A few weeks ago, I gave the Conference address by Bishop Burton. His talk entitled "Let virtue garnish your thoughts," brought many insightful ideas from members in our class. Bishop Burton suggests that there are many personal traits that make up virtue. These include but are not limited to the following: integrity, honesty, humillity, charity, spirituality, accountablity, civiltiy, civiltiy, fidelity. He goes on to say that virtuous traits must never be forgotten. If they are families will be masureably weakened individual faith in the Lord Jesus Christ will be soften, and important eternal relationships may be jepordized. He challenged us to join in rescuing and preserving that which is "virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy." Our Heavenly Father expecets His children to exercise integrity, civility, fidelity, charity, generosity, morality, and all the "ity" virtues. May we have the humiltiy to take the opportunity to act upon our responsibility, to demonstrate our ability to do so.
I also shared 10 virtues of Righteous daughters of God that I found in a talk given by Pres. Faust. They are faith, honesty chastity, humility, self-disipline, fairness, moderation, cleanliness courage, grace.
This talk also led me to think of a quote by Ralf Waldo Emerson. "Sow a thought and you reap an act, sow an act and you reap a habit, sow a habit and you reap a character, sow a character and you reap a destiny."
Sister Craven was able to obtain copies of the Young Women's new value "Virtue"
In this new addition there are goals and a project to help all women become more virtueous. she challenged each of us to take a copy and complete this virtue value.
I testify that by keeping our thoughts virtuous we will be able to reach our eternal destiny of living with our Heavenly Father again. And we will be able to strengthen our families and community.
